Cargo to Kenya From Perth by Sea or Air

Most cargo to Kenya goes by sea. It is the cheapest way to send anything heavy or bulky, and it suits everything from a single box to a full container.

Your goods are consolidated at our Canning Vale depot, leave Fremantle on the monthly sailing and arrive at Mombasa, where our team clears them before delivery. Air freight is booked when you need it, for urgent or perishable goods, and is priced on weight and size.

Door-to-door estimates, counted from the day your cargo leaves Perth. Sailings are monthly, so allow for the wait until the next one. Customs clearance, port congestion and public holidays can add time. More on sea freight from Perth.

Customs is handled by our team at both ends. We prepare the Australian export paperwork, clear your goods in Kenya and tell you before delivery if any duties or taxes apply. See how customs clearance and door-to-door delivery work.

Kenya Rules to Know

Kenya Import Rules to Check Before You Ship

These are the current rules that catch people out most often. Rules in Kenya change, so we confirm them for your shipment before you book.

Not sure whether something can go? Ask before you pack it. Our prohibited items page lists what we cannot ship.

Plastic bags

Plastic carrier bags and flat bags have been banned in Kenya since August 2017, along with other plastic articles under 30 microns. Do not pack or wrap anything in them.

Not accepted

Counterfeit goods and used underwear are not accepted. Cosmetics containing mercury and used tyres for cars and light commercial vehicles are also prohibited imports.

Vehicles

Send us the make, model, year and destination before buying or booking. We help check eligibility and shipping arrangements. Read our vehicle buying guide.

Moving home for good

Kenyan citizens returning to live in Kenya may qualify for a concession on personal and household effects they used abroad. Conditions apply, including how long you lived abroad and when your goods arrive. See our checklist for moving back to Kenya.
