How It Works

How Door-to-Door Cargo Shipping to Kenya Works

One booking covers the whole journey. You hand your goods over in Australia, and the next person who needs to do anything is the consignee, opening the door.

The same steps apply to Tanzania and Uganda. Cargo for Uganda arrives by sea at Mombasa and travels on by road, and it is still delivered to the door.

Your address or our depot

Collection or drop-off

We arrange collection from your address anywhere in Australia, or you bring your cargo to our depot at 2/95 Bannister Road, Canning Vale.

At Canning Vale

We handle customs clearance in Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda and let you know if any duties or taxes apply.

Final leg

Delivered to the consignee’s door

Your cargo is taken to the address you gave us and handed to the person receiving it.

The whole way

Updates and tracking

We send regular updates at each stage, and you can check progress any time on our tracking page.

Port or Door

Why Door to Door Beats Collecting From the Port

Port-to-port shipping stops at Mombasa or Dar es Salaam. For family in Nairobi, Kampala or Arusha, that means a trip to the coast, paperwork and a truck to organise before anything reaches home.

Port to port
  • Your cargo stops at the port, often far from where your family lives
  • Someone has to take time off and travel to collect it
  • They are left to sort out the clearance paperwork
  • They find and pay for their own transport home
  • Nobody is sure who to call when something is held up

Door-to-Door Shipping Times From Australia to East Africa

Estimated door-to-door times by sea, counted from the day your shipment leaves Perth. They include clearance and delivery at the other end.

By air, allow around 5–10 days for Kenya and 7–12 days for Tanzania and Uganda. Our guide on how long shipping to East Africa takes explains where the time goes.

KenyaArrives at Mombasa6–8 weeks
TanzaniaArrives at Dar es Salaam6–9 weeks

Estimates only. Sea freight departs once a month, so allow for the wait until the next departure. Clearance at destination, port congestion and public holidays can add time, and we keep you updated if anything changes.

For the Person Receiving It

What the Consignee Needs to Be Ready With

Delivery to the door works best when the person at the other end is easy to find and easy to reach. Check you have these before you book.

  • A full, correct address. Street or road, building, area and town, plus a nearby landmark if that is how people find the house.
  • A phone number that works. Include the country code, and make sure it is a number the consignee actually answers, so the delivery can be arranged with them.
  • Someone there to receive it. The consignee, or someone they trust, needs to be available when the cargo arrives.
  • Their full name, spelled the way they use it. It avoids confusion when the cargo is handed over.

If anything else is needed at the destination for your shipment, we tell you and the consignee before it arrives. Our team speaks English and Kiswahili, so the consignee can talk to us in whichever is easier.

Give us the consignee’s name, address and phone number, and tell us straight away if any of it changes.
