Before Your Vehicle Leaves Australia

A few things need sorting in Australia before a car or machine is shipped. Our team prepares the export paperwork, including an export declaration where one is required.

WA number plates

Return the plates to a Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) service centre or regional agent, which cancels the licence. You can then apply for a pro rata refund of the unused licence fee through DoTDirect or the Application for Refund form.

Other states

The process differs by state. Check with your state’s transport department.

Your papers

Keep the vehicle’s Australian registration and ownership papers. We tell you which documents we need from you.

Preparation

We will tell you how to prepare the vehicle or machine for shipping before it comes to us.
